Homework Policy:
My homework policy will be reward based. At the end of each 9 weeks, any students who miss 0-1 assignments will get to participate in a reward or party. Each quarter the reward will also be different. Any students who are missing assignments will use this party time to complete unfinished work. Students can still choose to use recess time to complete homework, as well as attend Homework Helpers Tuesday-Thursday each week. Homework completed during these times will be counted as complete and will not be counted against them for the party reward! Additionally, any students who use the party time to complete their missing assignments can still receive the reward, if their work is caught up by the end of the party.
Behavior Plan:
Incentives for following the classroom rules:
Consequences for breaking classroom rules:
- Praise and satisfaction for doing what is expected.
- Special job or privilege within the classroom.
- Inclusion in pod rewards.
- Granny's Wacky Prizes (fun short burst activities thrown in each day!)
Consequences for breaking classroom rules:
- Notify student that they are breaking the rule.
- Warning given to student verbally.
- Loss of Privilege such as recess or seating choice.
- Conference with student and teacher to discuss why the student is unable to follow the rule. A phone call home to share the discussion is placed.
- Detention given and a second phone call home.
Drinks in the Classroom
Many students have asked me if they are allowed to have a drink in the class. Water is absolutely acceptable in my classroom. it must be in a container with a lid. This can be a sports water bottle or a traditional bottle of water. The drinks may ONLY be water, however. This way any spills can be cleaned up easily and will not attract insects. The bottle must be able to fit in their lockers for times that they may not take their bottles with them, such as to Gym or the computer labs.
